Location: Remote Position Overview Sometimes life changes leave people feeling unsettled. A move to a new city. A job change. An empty nest. The end of a long-term frienship. In these in-between spaces, life can feel unrooted and the future feels unclear. We are seeking a contract writer to serve readers navigating seasons of transition and displacement. Scope of Work

  • Research, outline, and write a full-length manuscript (approximately 55,000–75,000 words) on an approved topic
  • Faithfully integrate Scripture, theological reflection, personal story, and practical application
  • Incorporate stories, examples, and illustrations that resonate with the clearly defined target reader
  • Collaborate closely with the editorial team through multiple rounds of revision
  • Ensure theological alignment with The Daily Grace Co.’s doctrinal commitments

Commitment Contract, per-project basis.

Compensation

Compensation is determined based on project scope and complexity. Additional Information Contractors are engaged based on the needs of specific projects and are not guaranteed ongoing or full-time work. Please submit all materials in a single document and include: 1. Title and Subtitle 2. Controlling Idea (1–2 sentences) Clearly articulate the central thesis or driving argument of the book. 3. One-Paragraph Summary Provide a concise overview of the book’s purpose, scope, structure, and tone. 4. Target Audience Description (One of the Most Important Sections)Who this book is specifically for

  • Their stage or season of life
  • The particular struggles, questions, or longings they are experiencing
  • Why this book matters to them now
  • Tip: Specificity is essential. Broad descriptions such as “Christian women” or “believers” are not sufficient.

5. Comparable Titles (2–3 from the Past 5 Years) Identify 2–3 comparable books published within the last five years and explain:

  • How your book overlaps with each one
  • How it is meaningfully distinct in approach, audience, tone, or theological emphasis

6. Author Bio Explain what uniquely qualifies you to write this book, including:

  • Education
  • Ministry, counseling, academic, or professional experience
  • Subject-matter expertise
  • Lived experience relevant to the topic (if appropriate)
  • Previous publishing or writing experience

7. Detailed Chapter Outline Provide a working table of contents that includes:

  • Chapter titles
  • The main idea of each chapter and how it supports the controlling idea of the book

8. Sample Material

  • The complete book introduction
  • Two fully written sample chapters representative of the final manuscript

9. Front and Back Matter (Optional) Describe any supplemental materials (e.g., reflection questions, discussion guides, recommended resources, liturgies, appendices, etc.). 10. Timeline and Specifications Include:

  • Current manuscript status (idea stage, in progress, complete, etc.)
  • Estimated total word count (typically 55,000–75,000 words)
  • Anticipated manuscript delivery date
