Key Responsibilities

As a Remote Seasonal Customer Service & Tax Preparation Specialist at arenaflex, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Providing Inbound Customer Support: Answer incoming calls, chats, and emails from U.S. consumers seeking help with tax preparation software, filing questions, and product-related issues.
  • Assisting with Tax Return Preparation: Guide customers step-by-step through the tax preparation process, ensuring they understand deductions, credits, and proper documentation requirements.
  • Resolving Routine Customer Issues: Diagnose and troubleshoot common problems, answer product and service questions, and deliver timely, accurate solutions that exceed customer expectations.
  • Documenting Customer Interactions: Accurately log all customer interactions, track issues, and retrieve relevant information using internal CRM and knowledge management databases.
  • Identifying Cross-Sell Opportunities: Recognize opportunities to recommend additional products or services that meet customer needs, such as upgraded filing packages, audit support, or financial planning tools.
  • Delivering Expert Customer Experiences: Approach every interaction with empathy, professionalism, and a genuine desire to help — even on the most challenging calls.
  • Maintaining Compliance & Confidentiality: Handle sensitive customer financial information with the utmost care, adhering to all IRS regulations, data privacy laws, and arenaflex security protocols.
  • Meeting Performance Goals: Achieve established metrics for customer satisfaction (CSAT), quality, first-call resolution, and handle time during peak seasonal demand.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed as a Remote Seasonal Customer Service & Tax Preparation Specialist at arenaflex, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Recent Tax Experience: Hands-on experience preparing tax returns, either professionally (e.g., for a tax preparation company, accounting firm, or financial services organization) or through extensive personal use of consumer tax software.
  • Customer Service Experience: A minimum of 1+ year of customer service experience, preferably in a call center, retail, hospitality, or remote support environment.
  • Education: A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Quiet, Distraction-Free Home Office: A dedicated workspace free from interruptions, background noise, and distractions during scheduled work hours.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong computer navigation skills, solid PC knowledge, and proficiency in multi-tasking across multiple systems in a fast-paced digital environment.
  • Eagerness to Learn: A growth mindset and genuine enthusiasm for mastering new technologies, software platforms, and customer service tools.
  • Required Equipment for Application Process: A desktop or laptop computer capable of completing PC and internet testing during the hiring process. (A work computer will be provided by arenaflex after the first day of training.)
  • High-Speed Internet: Reliable, high-speed internet connection (no wireless hotspots or satellite connections) and a smartphone.
  • U.S. Residency: Must reside in the United States or have a valid U.S. residential address. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working remotely in a customer support or tax preparation role.
  • Familiarity with popular tax software platforms (e.g., TurboTax, H&R Block, TaxAct, or similar consumer-facing products).

  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles, bookkeeping, or financial services.

Physical & Mental Requirements

While performing the duties of this role, you will regularly operate a computer, keyboard, telephone, headset, and other standard office equipment. Work is generally sedentary in nature and performed from your home office.
