Reporting directly to the Director of Tax Innovation, the Senior Remote Data Operations Specialist will serve as a vital contributor to our Tax Team. This role is responsible for understanding, supporting, and advancing the data and technology needs of the entire tax organization. You will play a critical role in maintaining large-scale tax data ecosystems, designing cutting-edge automation workflows, and liaising between tax, engineering, and business stakeholders to ensure data integrity and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stakeholder Partnership: Work directly with internal stakeholders to identify tax data and technology needs, define comprehensive requirements, and manage end-to-end project execution.
  • Data Engineering Collaboration: Partner closely with data engineers and programmers to architect new data sources, pipelines, and tooling tailored to the evolving needs of the tax team.
  • Continuous Innovation: Challenge the status quo by consistently identifying smarter, more efficient ways of accomplishing tasks and improving existing processes.
  • Complex Problem Solving: Tackle intricate, large-scale data challenges using analytical rigor and creative thinking.
  • Emerging Technology Exploration: Experiment with advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and statistical analytics to deliver groundbreaking tax solutions.
  • Strategic Roadmapping: Participate actively in defining the organization's tax data and automation roadmap, shaping the future direction of our tax technology stack.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Work seamlessly across business, engineering, and accounting teams to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of all tax data flows.
  • Knowledge Sharing & Mentorship: Elevate the tax team's understanding and adoption of automation technologies through structured knowledge-sharing sessions, training programs, and best practice documentation.
  • Workflow Development: Design, build, and maintain sophisticated workflows using Alteryx Cloud and complementary tools to streamline tax operations.

Essential Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, or a closely related field of study.
  • Data Management Experience: Proven experience managing large datasets of financial information with a strong emphasis on accuracy and reliability.
  • Professional Experience: A minimum of 4+ years of experience in data management, analytics, or automation roles. Tax-related data experience is a significant plus.
  • Alteryx Cloud Proficiency: Demonstrated hands-on experience developing and maintaining workflows in Alteryx Cloud.
  • Advanced SQL Skills: Deep, hands-on experience writing, optimizing, and executing complex SQL queries against large databases.
  • Technology Stack Familiarity: Working knowledge of modern data and analytics tools such as Alteryx Designer, Snowflake, and Python.
  • Business Requirements Expertise: Experience authoring detailed business requirements documents and designing comprehensive testing protocols to support large-scale data initiatives.
  • Data Analysis & Validation: Experience participating in the analysis, testing, and validation of new datasets and data sources.
  • Productivity Tools Mastery: Proficiency with a variety of productivity platforms including Monday.com, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
  • Analytical Excellence: Meticulous attention to detail combined with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Self-Direction: A self-motivated individual with a proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and prioritize work independently in a remote environment.
  • Intellectual Curiosity: A natural curiosity and drive to uncover the right answer, even when it requires digging deep.
