Embedded Software Engineer I
Axon is on a mission to protect life through its ecosystem of devices and cloud software. They are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer I to develop embedded software for Axon devices, ensuring critical evidence is captured during essential moments for customers. The role involves designing, developing, testing, and maintaining embedded applications while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of embedded applications and network configurations for current and future Axon products
- Implement features and enhancements in C/C++, Go, or Python with a focus on reliability and performance
- Write and maintain unit, integration, and system-level tests
- Participate actively in code reviews, design discussions, and technical problem solving
- Collaborate with Product Management, Design, Firmware, and Cloud Engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions
- Debug and resolve issues across embedded devices, networking layers, and supporting systems
- Support continuous improvement of engineering processes including sprint planning, retrospectives, and release cycles
- Learn and apply modern open source tools and frameworks relevant to embedded systems
Skills
- 1–3 years of professional software development experience
- Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: C/C++, Go, or Python
- Experience working with Linux-based systems in a professional setting
- Experience writing unit and integration tests
- Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment
- Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced, mission-critical engineering environment
- Exposure to embedded devices and networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, or VPN is a plus

- This role is based out of our Seattle, Scottsdale, or Boston offices and follows a hybrid schedule. We rely on in-person collaboration and ask that team members work onsite Tuesdays through Fridays, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays, unless there is an approved workplace accommodation.
